Dunedin
Baking

Are you a people person, do you enjoy helping others and giving back to your community, do you have a couple of hours a week to spare?

We are looking for a volunteer to teach baking skills to a small group (up to 4 or 5 people) and assist them in making fairly straightforward recipe's and challenge them to upskill by trying new recipe's when ready. This would be up to two hours a week on a Monday morning.

Gardening

Do you have a green thumb, are you interested in sharing your skills and knowledge with others?

We are looking for someone who will be willing to work alongside our members to help them with our vegetable gardens, flower beds and glasshouse. This will include tidying and weeding the paths and surrounding area around the vegetable garden. Time required would be anywhere up to three hours on a Thursday afternoon, this could be anywhere between 11:30am and 3pm. Although not required, some knowledge of organic gardening would be a bonus.

Walking Group

Are you a people person, do you enjoy walking and/or physical activity?

Our walking group is looking for a volunteer to join them out in the community. We meet with the St Kilda Walking Group and accompany them on their walks weekly on a Tuesday morning. They go on a variety of different walks in and around the Dunedin area. 
You will require a clean full driver’s license as you will be taking the group out in our vehicle (Covid-19 restrictions will apply), a reasonable level of physical fitness is also required. Time will vary but will usually be between the hours of 9:30am and 12pm weekly on a Tuesday.

Art | Craft

Arts & Crafts Group

Are you artistic, do you enjoy crafting, would you like to share your passion and skills with others?

We are looking for people to lead our arts and crafts group and help our members expand their creative abilities. Painting, card making, knitting, patchwork, paper mache/craft, drawing, crochet, outdoor art works and more, our members are keen to learn and expand on their knowledge in arts and crafts. This would be up to two hours a week on a Wednesday morning. This could be a one-off session or an ongoing project depending on what skills you would like to share with our group.

Alexandra
Oamaru Stone Carver

Our arts-based sessions aim to offer opportunities to build new relationships, develop new skills for everyday life and to enrich and empower our members to try new things.
We are looking for a superstar volunteer who can teach us about Oamaru stone carving. We have a small amount of stone available at the centre.
Are you someone that
• Has a great sense of humour,
• Can work with different learning styles,
• Enjoys good banter,
• Has an appetite for delicious homebaking,
• Can pass a police check for working with vulnerable adults – taken on a case by case basis
If you fit the above requirements and have been fully vaccinated, we want to meet you!! Your skills and expertise don’t have to be limited to stone carving, there may be other areas that you could support us in, we would love to know!
Art based groups are Monday’s and Friday’s 10am -2:30pm, any time within these hours that you are available would be welcomed. Please contact us.
